Sticks and stones aren't the only things that hurt

We've all heard these phrases said either about us, or about someone else.  Even worse: we may have said them ourselves.      Body shaming.  It's a totally unnecessary evil.  Why does it happen?  I think the media, both social and mass, has a lot to do with it, and it's not a new thing, I think of the character Rerun on the mid to late 1970's show "What's Happening".  At least once in every episode there was a fat joke directed at him.  On the other end of the spectrum, there's J.J. on "Good Times", a whole lot of the show was funny quips about his thinness.  I think it's safe to say it goes on today on modern television programs too, but I only watch a couple and they aren't comedies.  Yes, they were only characters, but real life people hear, and are hurt by the same jokes.      Why do people feel the need to make fun of someone who is either obese or underweight?  I believe jealousy and insecurity are huge

H to the O!

Today I'm going to talk about something all of us know something about: water.  Good ole H2O.  After all, the adult human body is roughly 50-75% water, depending on age.            A great many people say they just cannot drink water because it is "boring".  Really?!  Fruit infused water is AMAZING!!!  Not only is it tasty, it is calorie free!  There are so many combinations that are so flavorful.  Lemon and cucumber is my favorite, it's so refreshing.  Raspberries and lemon, orange and strawberry...the list is pretty much endless.  Pinterest is a great place to find different recipes for infused water.  You can use an infuser bottle or just put some fruit (fresh or frozen) and water into any container and chill.  I use a bottle, prepare it before bed and voila! tasty water in the morning!  I usually use the same fruit three times before repacking the infuser.      You still need sources of water?  Eat it!  That's right, I'm telling you

Accountability Made Easier

The first thing about bettering one's lifestyle is to realize that as long as you are an adult, you are in charge of your life, especially when it comes to eating.  You control what you eat.  I know it's hard to keep track of what and how much you are actually eating calorie/nutrient wise, but there are tools to help you. I use  myfitnesspal.com .  It has pretty much became my fitness bible.  In fact, today is the 514th consecutive day I have logged my meals and exercise. My user name is LeacyPeacy if any of you would like to be My Fitness Pal friend.  You can opt to keep your food diary private if you choose.  I keep mine public, it helps keep me accountable, knowing that others can see what and how much I eat. It is free, however, there is an option to purchase a version.  I use the free version, it's all I need.  Honestly, I'm not really sure what all the paid version entails.  The free one keeps track of calories, carbs, fat, protein, sodium and sugars for each entr
